Some Observations, Part 2

  • Kiwis like to sing along to the radio. Never silly to do so.
  • They really like their city. Pride like you’d see in a university town.
  • Gas (petrol) is very expensive.
  • They have MTV3…with music videos. Apparently those still get made.
  • New cars are expensive, but used cars are common and cheap.
  • Earthquakes happen, and you can’t blame fracking here.
  • Michael Jackson is played a lot in public here.
  • Japanese and Thai food here is plentiful and very good.
  • Their version of Walmart (Warehouse) is often a mall anchor store. Those malls are smaller and all have book stores. It’s kinda like B. Dalton-ish.
  • When people say the word “no”, they turn the o into every vowel at once. Sounds like “naoieu”.
  • Malls generally close at 6-7pm. Seriously.
